kratom-baliWhen you purchase kratom from Moon Kratom, you are purchasing an incredibly complex bit of chemistry. There are nearly 40 chemical compounds in the leaves of the Mytrogyna Speciosa. This complexity speaks to the wonders of the natural world. The earth can be as simple as one element, or more complex than the 40 compounds found in kratom.

There are many alkaloids in kratom. Alkaloids are naturally occurring chemical compounds that contain mostly basic nitrogen atoms. In kratom, one of these alkaloids is mitragynine. Alkaloids are produced a large number of organisms, including fungi, bacteria, animals, and plants. The study of alkaloids started in the 19th century.  Compared to other natural compounds, alkaloids have a great structural diversity and no uniform classification.

The History of Kratom

euphoric-green-vein-borneo-stimulating-and-relaxing-hybrid-kratomIf you were to travel to Southeast Asia, particularly Indochina and Malaysia, you would find a native deciduous evergreen tree, flourishing in the area, scientifically known as Mitragyna Speciosa but commonly known as kratom, or kratum. While it is beautiful to see in the wild, you can buy kratom leaf in powdered form through Moon Kratom.

When kratom was first formally described to the western world, it wa by Dutch colonial botanist Pieter Korthals in 1839. His original work is very difficult to find, but it can still be found in a few libraries around the world. Kratom is so-called because he thought the stigma in the kratom he saw looked like the shape of a bishop’s mitre, hence, migragyna speciosa (the Latin name). People who purchase kratom rarely seek it out by its Latin name, but rather its Thai name, kratom. Moon Kratom prefers to stick to kratom’s true roots (and leaf!) with its name.

The kratom tree usually grows to around 30 feet tall by 15 feet wide, though some can reach nearly 70 feet in height. Depending on where it grows, it can be either deciduous or evergreen. The leaves themselves are typically what people are looking for when they buy kratom. Before they are dried and ground, they are dark green and grow to around 7 inches long by 4 inches wide, with a broad base and pointed tip. When people buy kratom, especially the high quality product that people can purchase through Moon Kratom, the leaves maintain their fresh, herbaceous scent.

The Mitragyna Speciosa, or kratom tree, is a beautiful part of the foliage native to Southeast Asia. If ever traveling to the area, you will be amazed by how lush and beautiful the kratom tree is, and how prevalent they are to that part of the world. To buy kratom from Moon Kratom is to bring part of Southeast Asia into your life.
